I have painted an upcycled table lamp base for a charity called "Give Way to Freedom" for an art auction to be held Friday June 6 at Red Square in Burlington. The event is called "Shine a Light on Human Trafficking." Here is a link to describe what they do.
If you want to attend the event, it's $25 for a ticket, which includes appetizers and one drink. It's $45 for two if you pay in advance. Here are links for more information.
About the lamp: I used Golden Acrylic paints and media. It took about 14 hours of hand sanding the wood base and finial, and three hours to paint the lamp base and finial. The lamp is signed on the back. You can see it and even bid on it at the auction. Proceeds benefit "Give Way to Freedom."

Over 21? You are invited to a tasting of Long Trail Brewery's Saison Beer, now available at Sweet Clover Market in Essex Junction. Local resident Carol Boucher painted the image featured on the label. Join her at Sweet Clover Market on Friday, April 11, from 3-7 p.m. She has signed some bottles, which are for sale as well.
Saison is only available until June, and it's the third in Long Trail's Brush and Barrel series of limited edition beers. Brush and Barrel beers pair Vermont artists with Long Trail Brewery's brewmasters. Saison was created by Brewmaster Dave Hartmann, and is available in pubs and stores through June.
Carol's painting, featured on the label, depicts hops growing in the foreground, a red barn and farm fields with distant hills in the background. For more information about the tasting, please see http://www.sweetclovermarket.com/events.htm. This event is open to those over age 21.
For more information about Saison, please see http://www.vtbeer.org/2014/...saison/ For more information about Carol Boucher's artwork, please see http://carolboucher.com/news/news.htm

Long Trail Brewery's Limited Edition Saison Beer is being bottled, with my art image on the label, soon to be in stores and pubs. More info to come.
Through late April, I have two acrylic abstract "cityscape" paintings at the wonderful Axel's Gallery in Waterbury, VT.
One of my landscape paintings will appear on a limited edition Saison beer label from Long Trail Brewery. It is part of the Brush and Barrel series, pairing a Vermont artist with a brewmaster's creation, in this case, a Saison beer. Here is a link to the Vermont Beer website.
7 Days has a nice post about my show at Alchemy Jewelry Arts in Burlington.
"Most of Carol Boucher’s paintings and monotypes currently on view at Alchemy Jewelry Arts in Burlington are small and intimate. Like the jewelry in adjacent display cases, they invite a closer look. And the viewer is rewarded with rich colors to rival precious gems."
Late summer greetings! I hope to see you in Philadelphia (Booth 129), or Armonk (Booth L7), or Gracie Square in Manhattan (Booth 96), or Bruce Museum in Greenwich, CT (booth # to come).
In Vermont, I am exhibiting oil pastel paintings at Fletcher Allen Health Care through December, in the Patient Garden Area. I've got small paintings and reproductions for sale at Shore Acres Inn and Restaurant in North Hero, VT.
Devon House Stonington in Stonington, CT has renovated. Here is a photo of my work displayed there.
In November and December, I will show at Alchemy Jewelry Arts, 2 Howard St., Burlington, VT.
I am working on new pieces, and I look forward to exhibiting them soon.
While selling is always nice, it's also great to receive awards. The most recent was Director's Choice at Cain Park Arts Festival in Cleveland Heights, OH in July. This was my 14th year there, what a wonderful, well-run show.
For those who need anything framed, please consider me. I would love to frame your special mementos. You can reach me here.

Ann Brauer wrote a post in her blog about a custom painting. Here's an excerpt:
"When she began working she sent me a snapshot of the house half finished. What should the lights look like reflected on the snow? I tried to tell her to use her discretion--that is why I wanted her to create this painting. But I did get up early one morning after my husband had left for work, turn on all the lights and snap a picture of the house. She tweaked the painting a bit."
... and after!

Raven's Wing Studio
Burnell Yow! of Raven's Wing Studio wrote about Carol in his blog post titled "Carol Boucher – Meet the Artists Who Have Inspired Us to Part with Our Cash". Here's an excerpt:
"She had gotten Carol’s business card and had spent hours on her website viewing her marvelous artworks. It was this particular piece, however, that had gotten under Betsy’s skin and into her heart. So, when we returned to the festival this year, it was more or less a given that if the piece was still available, it would be coming home with us."

Three more shows to go. On 10/2-3, I'll be at the Gracie Square Art Show on East End Avenue near Carl Schurz Park and Gracie Mansion in Manhattan. On 10/9-10, it's on to Greenwich, CT for the Outdoor Art Festival of the Bruce Museum. I'll be demonstrating oil pastels during the show. Come ask questions or roll up your sleeves and give them a try! I'll have multiple oil pastel sets available. The last show of my 2010 season will be Bethesda Row Arts Festival, Bethesda, MD. Then I'm off to Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, VT, for a month of intensive painting, to help me prepare for show season 2011.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of my website, carolboucher.com. Year 10 is reputed to be the tin and aluminum anniversary, but in our household, it’s the steel, chrome and fiberglas anniversary: I just picked up our new Ford Econoline van. The old one logged over 150,000 miles traveling to shows across the U.S. All those miles helped me connect with all of you through my art ... amazing!
Photo from Cain Park Arts Festival, Cleveland Heights, OH, July 2009.
I’m excited to get back on the road, and I look forward to seeing you at a show! Folks on the mailing list will receive their cards soon. Please let me know via email if you want to be on or off the list.
For this year’s roster of events, click here. I’ve detailed a few highlights from this year’s roster:
Shore Acres Inn and Restaurant
Spectacular views, congenial and professional hosts Susan and Mike Tranby, Chef Dan’s great food ... and my oil pastel paintings on some of the walls. Shore Acres is my favorite place to visit.
Fort Worth, Texas
I’ll be visiting the school district’s exemplary art education department, sharing my knowledge of oil pastel techniques with the teachers and the gifted students. This fantastic opportunity came about through connection with Beverly Fletcher, Art Director of Fort Worth Independent School District. I met Beverly at the Vermont Studio Center when I participated in a painting residency November-December 2009. She and her artist friend and colleague Alison Aldrich teach art in Fort Worth public schools. It was wonderful to meet kindred spirits, and I look forward to reconnecting with them on my visit, and sharing my love of oil pastels with their faculty and students.

Trilogy--Art Exhibition at Emile Gruppe Gallery, Jericho, VT
Build Me a Landscape" monotype with colored pencil and oil pastel
12" x 12" copyright 2010 by Carol Boucher
Monotype exhibition with Dorothy L Martinez and Jane S Morgan. We’ve been artists and friends since the 1990s and thought we should put together a top notch exhibit of our favorite monotypes, many of which we began or completed in one another’s presence at monotype workshops. An opening reception will be held on July 25, 2010 from 3-5 p.m. Gallery hours 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Thursday through Sunday, or by appointment.
Vermont Studio Center, Johnson, VT
Residency program in painting
My Studio, November-December 2009, Vermont Studio Center
Paintings Created at Vermont Studio Center, November-December 2009
I will return to VSC for a month to explore new techniques and to begin creating a new body of work for 2011. Going to VSC has been part retreat, part networking with artists from all over the globe, and a terrific way to renew and refresh my art. The friendly year-round staff/artists welcome me like family. I recommend VSC for working artists who aren’t looking for instruction (none is given; artists are expected to work on their own, quite different from attending workshops and classes).

Three of my paintings are reproduced in recently published Verve Editions The Art of Lake Champlain. Representing the work of 50 visual artists, the hardcover book commemorates the 400th anniversary of the discovery of Lake Champlain. It retails for $24.95 and may be ordered by contacting Erin Ostreicher at Verve Editions.
All are invited to the opening reception for "Land and Light" at Bryan Memorial Gallery in Jeffersonville, VT on Sunday, July 26 from 3-5 p.m. For more information, please contact www.bryangallery.org
On Tuesday, July 28 from 10 a.m.-noon, I will demonstrate oil pastel painting at Brownell Library in Essex Junction, VT. Participation is encouraged. Materials and supplies provided, admission is free.
