July 22, 2009 Happy Summer! Three of my paintings are reproduced in recently published Verve Editions The Art of Lake Champlain. Representing the work of 50 visual artists, the hardcover book commemorates the 400th anniversary of the discovery of Lake Champlain. It retails for $24.95 and may be ordered by contacting Erin Ostreicher at Verve Editions. All are invited to the opening reception for "Land and Light" at Bryan Memorial Gallery in Jeffersonville, VT on Sunday, July 26 from 3-5 p.m. For more information, please contact www.bryangallery.org On Tuesday, July 28 from 10 a.m.-noon, I will demonstrate oil pastel painting at Brownell Library in Essex Junction, VT. I’ll be showing landscape paintings at the Brownell Library in Essex Junction, VT, from January 2-29, 2009.
After many years of debate, I’ve decided to offer reproductions for sale. In this uncertain economy, it seems prudent to offer thrifty folks an opportunity to purchase my work. I am offering limited edition, signed reproductions printed locally by a KBA commercial offset press on heavy matte paper. Reproductions are especially appropriate for decorating spaces that otherwise would not be suitable for original, one-of-a-kind artworks. Such places as offices, hotel rooms, rental homes, hospitals, come to mind. Of course, some folks decorate their walls with reproductions until they can afford to purchase originals. The first ten purchasers of reproductions will receive gifts! Contact me for more info.
I’m busy creating new work for the 2009 show season, wishing all of you the best for 2009 and hope to see you "down the road." April 23, 2008 I'm getting ready to hit the road. About the buildings Since my teen years, I've been fascinated by nighttime views, and paintings of night. This year's postcard image depicts my painting of Johnson, Vermont at night. Night photos transform streetlights into stars; buildings become green or orange, depending on reflected light. Familiar places become mysterious, I notice different things than in daylight.
Photo by Howard Romero I had a productive winter with residencies in December 2007 and February 2008 at Vermont Studio Center. While there, I worked on a large painting of Varenna, Italy. In the photo of me, you can glimpse the painting in the background. I hope to complete the painting for the Bethesda Fine Arts Festival. Looking forward to seeing you "down the road." I have new acrylic abstract and landscape paintings as well; please contact me for more information. I did many of these at Vermont Studio Center, where I spent four weeks in November and December 2005 at painting residency. Photo essay coming soon. Vermont Arts Council is hosting an exhibition of "Palettes of Vermont". They have distributed wooden palettes to artists; I am one of 40 out of 500 artists chosen for the show. The opening reception will be April 20, 3-5 pm at the Spotlight Gallery, Vermont Arts Council, 136 State St., Montpelier, VT. For more information, click the link.

I will be exhibiting acrylic paintings only at Laumeier, DesMoines and Cain Park. December 30, 2004 Closing out 2004, I have much to be thankful for-good health, good family, and- yup, I’ll admit it- I’m even grateful for the work I need to do. Painting at the Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, VT, November, 2004 I plan to post an update/photo essay this spring regarding my November-December 2004 residency at Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, VT. I’m excited about my new, abstract acrylic paintings! November 7, 2004 Hello all! Thank you for visiting me at the shows this year. It has been great to see familiar faces, make new acquaintances, and best of all, find good homes for my favorite paintings. I have updated the gallery with 17 new images. In the bio section, you will find new awards posted. I will be participating in a residency at Johnson Studio Center in Johnson, Vermont, from 11/21/04 to 12/17/04. This intensive program will enable me to focus completely on artwork. Artists are provided room and board, plus large studios, and are expected to work without instruction (this program is primarily intended for professional artists). This is a great opportunity for me. I am already planning the 2005 show season. Please keep checking the website for updates through the winter and spring. So far, I’m committed to the following:
August 16, 2004 The Mystic Outdoor Art Festival Committee cancelled the Sunday portion of their Coastal Southern Connecticut show due to forecasts of high winds and thunderstorms. It was a tough call. The shows go on rain or shine, and our tent can easily withstand gusts of 20-30 mph winds. But Hurricane Charley hurled winds from 40-50 mph, and the committee worried about public safety. We took down the show Saturday night in dry weather and waited for the onslaught predicted by the Weather Channel. However, we woke to gentle rain and less wind than other years when the show went on as planned. Looking forward to seeing you down the road. Best, Carol |
